Two extraordinary families play an important role in this rich history: the Cross family from 1846 and the Boss family from 1915.
From the English Midlands to the East coast of America in Rhode Island, five generations of the Cross family applied their jeweller’s craftsmanship and advanced insight for the development of the first high-quality writing instrument in the world. Alonzo Townsend Cross, after whom the company was later named, registered the first of his 26 patents in 1873.
With innovative new products, the introduction of new categories such as timepieces and personal accessories, and by making use of new technologiy, A.T.
