The company has been shaped by four families since it was founded in 1815, starting with the Fonsecas and Monteiros - the original founders of the business.

Fonseca owns three key estates in the Douro Valley - Panascal, Cruzeiro and Santo António. It is from these three estates that their collection of wines are made, ready to be blended into one of their world famous Ports. Fonseca were the first Port house to produce an organic port - made using 100% organically farmed grapes, and they are known for their consistent signature style.
