How to Make Father's Day Amazing

Whether you are celebrating the love of your father, stepdad, grandad or any other father figures in your life; these amazing men need to hear ever so often what a difference their love and support means to you. Father's Day is a special occasion which happens once a year where we celebrate and appreciate dad's and the care and love they provide us with each and every day; whether you are young or grown up your dad has always been there for you to protect you and have your best interest at heart. This year Father's Day falls on Sunday 17th June and we here at Wheelers would like to inspire you on how to shower your dad or father figure that day with love and show him that his presence is appreciated.

Father’s Day is a celebration to honour and celebrate Fatherhood and paternal bonds with their children. Father’s Day originated in Catholic Europe and was celebrated on March 19th which is St. Joseph’s Day; then was brought to the Americans by the Spanish and Portuguese.
It usually falls on the third Sunday in June in the majority of places such as Britain, South Africa and the US; however it is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world most commonly in the months of March and May and in Australia the first Sunday in September.

Why did we have Mothering Sunday and not Father's day?

We always celebrated Mother's on Mothering Sunday; which was a tradition of visiting your Mothering Church on a Sunday, so why Mother’s Day and not Father's Day? Father's have played just as much as a part in our lives as well as Mother's they deserve a day where they are appreciated as well don't they? We should respect and appreciate both parents all year round they did bring us into this world. President Richard Nixon made Father's Day a permanent national tradition in 1972 after it was recognised in 1924 by President Calvin Coolidge. Over the years, the concept of celebrating Father's Day spread beyond geographical boundaries. Today, millions of children across the world express gratitude for their Dads as they celebrate Father's Day festival.

Below are a few ideas we have put together to help with the celebrations this Father's Day. If you are looking for ways in which to show your dad a good time this Father's Day then keep reading and check out our Father's Day gift guide - don't forget to add a perfect little card and message.

You can do all of this from the comfort of your own home otherwise take a ride out. Films are easy either venture to the cinema or have a home movie marathon with his favourite movie treats and snuggle into the sofa with the family. If he likes the outdoors then take a hike out with a picnic, for sports you could go and see a game with him or have a golfing game on the green. Pull out a board game at home around the dining table and make things interesting - play for money.

With these activities in mind here are some gift ideas you could accompany these experiences with.

Socks - Mum's Worse Nightmare

Socks seem to always go down well for dads and they can never have too many. Problem is with dads they seem to wear socks to death and even when they have tiny holes or even big holes in the toes dads will still wear them - its like they can't let go. So maybe replace some of his old socks with a spanking brand new pair and make your mum happy too as she can now stop seeing them whizzing around the washing machine thinking 'why can't he just throw them out'. Paul Smith makes gorgeous socks something Paul takes pride in when designing, we also have a large stock of Hugo Boss socks these are more sporting if your dad is a sporty person.

For the Star Wars Loving Dads

Is your dad a big Star Wars fan well we have a selection of writing instruments from both Cross and S.T. Dupont that will blow his mind. Pen's are something everyone needs and why not have one that isn't your standard Biro and is personal to him. Is he a business man and needs a pen on a daily basis for signing documents or writing in his diary? This Cross Storm Trooper ballpoint pen could be the perfect gift from you to him.

Accessorise with Hugo Boss Cufflinks

We have all heard of Hugo Boss - one of the largest leading fashion brands and quite right too; just look at these stunning cufflinks with a grey striped inlay in the centre completing the look. Cufflinks are a great accessory for every man to have whether they wear cufflinks everyday as part of their work attire or for events such as weddings, christenings or exciting events throughout the year, a man should always have at least one pair.

Picnic with a Bottle of Bollinger

Are you planning a picnic with your Dad this Father's Day then maybe a small bottle of Bollinger champagne might be a nice touch to the food feast or celebrate with a glass of bubbly in the evening over a BBQ. Dependant on weather of course.

Montblanc Le Petit Prince

One of the newest additions to Montblanc recently has been the Montblanc Le Petit Prince collection, well all men are princes right?
