The pen barrel has a hexagonal carved shaped grip around the cone of the pen to give a more comfortable feel when writing. There is a twist mechanism near the cone of the pen which unscrews so you can change the fountain pen cartridge which can be seen through a peep hole carved out of the barrel so you can see when you need to top up.
