The cap can also fit on top of the pen when you are writing but must be placed over the nib when not in use to prevent the ink drying up. The pen has a grip around the nib part which is a hexagonal carved shape to add a comfortable feel when writing. The LAMY brand name has been carved into the pen barrel towards the top for subtle branding purposes. The fountain pen nib is made from silver toned metal and has the LAMY brand name engraved onto it embracing a slim design shape. There is a twist mechanism near the cone of the pen which unscrews so you can change the fountain pen cartridge which can be seen through a peep hole carved out of the barrel so you can see when you need to top up.
