The delicate engravings and light and dark colour palette display how the collection is shaped by contrasts in design, inspired by love and conflict, tenderness and obstacles. Montblanc pays homage to the legendary tale of Romeo and Juliet – one of the finest works in the English language – with the following striking pieces as ballpoint, rollerball, or fountain pens. From top to bottom, we see the Precious Resin Juliet Classique, the Doué Juliet Classique, the Precious Resin Romeo LeGrand, the Doué Romeo LeGrand, and the Solitaire Romeo & Juliet LeGrand.Firstly, the Precious Resin Juliet Classique pens are cream-coloured with engraved feather detailing on the cap that represents Romeo's celestial vision of Juliet in Act 2, Scene 2, as he says “O, speak again, bright angel!”. The signature gold-coated trims reflect Juliet's heavenly radiance and complement the precious resin cap and barrel. The Doué Juliet Classique then builds on that design while introducing the signature gold-coated cap, carrying forward the engraved feather pattern.Next, the Precious Resin Romeo LeGrand pens are teal-coloured with engraved leaf detailing on the cap that subtly pays tribute to the moment in the Capulet's orchard, Act 2, Scene 2, when from her window, Juliet unknowingly reveals her love and inner conflict. The platinum-coated trims beautifully complement the precious resin cap and barrel. As with the Juliet pens, the Doué Romeo LeGrand builds on the previous design, with the addition of the striking platinum-coated cap, still bearing the engraved leaf pattern.Lastly, the Solitaire Romeo & Juliet LeGrand pens bring together elements of both the Romeo and Juliet editions. Both the cap and barrel are crafted using teal-coloured degradé lacquer adorned with a signature gold-coated leaf pattern that matches the rest of the signature gold-coated details, including the cone, clip, and nib.Additional detailing can be seen as you look even closer at these incredible works of art. At the crown of each pen, the Montblanc emblem is framed in red precious resin, which of course is a nod to the traditional colour of love and a unifying symbol of affection. Underneath, the cap tops bear the initials "C" and "M" which stand for Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague, respectively. These initials are entwined with thorn branches, symbolising the deep rooted rivalry between the two feuding families, and foreshadowing the inescapable and painful consequences of Romeo and Juliet's love. The thorn branches are found again, detailing the cone.On each fountain pen is a specially engraved nib, with three motifs: a heart surrounded by radiating lines and pierced by a dagger. The heart reflects the passionate bond displayed by the two lovers. The radiating lines symbolise a divine love that is fated. The dagger represents their tragic end.Each of these extraordinary pens can have the clip engraved for personalisation, turning a collectible into a lifelong keepsake.
