History of LEGO

LEGO was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen and the company has been passed down from generation to generation so still to this day, it's owned by the Kirk Kirstiansen family. The name 'LEGO' is an abbreviation of the two Danish words "leg godt" meaning "play well", a fitting name for the brand.

Over the past 90 years, LEGO has come along way, from a small carpenters workshop to a modern global enterprise, It's now one of worlds largest manufacturers of toys. The LEGO brick is their most important product and the foundation of their work. The brick in its present form was launched in 1958 and its interlocking principle with its tubes made it unique as it offers unlimited building possibilities.
