The LAMY AL-Star rollerball has a red transparent plastic grip which is carved for a comfortable feel when writing. The LAMY brand name is engraved onto the end of the barrel for subtle branding purposes. The cap that fits over the nib clicks into place making it secure and can be placed on the other end of the pen when you are writing. On the side of the cap there is a black metal clip for securing into place in your pocket or bag. There is a twist mechanism near the cone of the pen which unscrews so you can change the refill.
