The design of the Limited Edition Mahatma Gandhi has been inspired by the symbol of India’s independence, a symbol also of Gandhi’s actions: the spinning wheel. The design of the surface of the lacquer recalls the fine structure of cotton. The cap and cone with their complex ornamentation of Ag 925 sterling silver symbolise the thread, the mandarin garnet on the clip represents the orange in the Indian flag and reflects the high symbolic value of the spinning wheel. The rhodium-plated Au 750 solid gold nib is decorated with a fine engraving of Gandhi on his journey to independence.
