This fountain pen is the next instalment in the Montblanc Meisterstück Around the World in 80 Days series, a collection that draws its inspiration from Jules Verne's renowned novel of the adventures of Mr. Fogg. This LeGrand pen comes in a ruthenium colour, and tells the story of the journey Mr. Fogg and Passepartout took - the final leg of the journey, which takes them from Yokohama back to London via the United States. The pair travelled most of America via train, and this has been detailed throughout this fountain pen. A train has been lasered onto the cap, and a safety chain pattern has been etched onto the cone to signify the pivotal moment when Passpartout detaches the train from the locomotive to save the crew from an attack. The design also features various pressure valves and the smoke of the locomotive in action. The clip features a red lacquered heart card suit, to reflect the union between Mr. Fogg and Princess Aouda and as a symbol of the wager placed. The top of the cap features the time frame for the final part of the journey from Yokohama to London, and has been engraved with '36 Days'. The Montblanc Meisterstück LeGrand fountain pen is perfectly finished off with the detailing of the hand crafted 18K gold nib, featuring the date of Mr. Fogg's departure from Yokohama "14/11", along with the ambitious planned return date to London by "21/12" to win his bet. The nib also features an engraved hot air balloon in reference to Jules Verne's first adventure novel.
