This LAMY x NeoLab safari all black ncode smartpen and NeoLab digital paper notebook set is able to capture all activity through the Neo Studio App which is connected through Bluetooth. When the writing instrument is online, everything is captured in realtime and visible on your device. However, you can also use it offline as every word, sketch or drawing is stored in the pen itself, so there is a digital copy of all your notes and ideas. The viewing window on the pen shows the charging status of the pen instead of the ink levels which are shown in the original LAMY safari pens. The pen has a USB port and a full charge using a Micro USB cable permits 11 hours of non-stop writing.

The matching cap has a black metal clip on the side which is ideal for clipping into pen cases; this cap can also be placed on the end of the pen when you are writing. The grip of the pen is hexagonal shaped providing a comfortable feel.

The NeoLab notebook comes with ink-permeable paper and special LAMY ruling. The optoelectronic sensor reads the ncode pattern printed on the paper of the LAMY digital paper notebook and recognises handwriting and pages. Each page contains a tiny pattern which is barely visible to the naked eye. These codes hold information unique to each page, including pen position. The NeoLAB ncode sensor reads the
codes from the blank surface - the processor (CPU) contained in the pen performs the complex mathematical calculation to locate the pen position on the page.
