Vincent van Gogh is one of the most popular painters of the late 19th century, and the design in this pen emphasises his time in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Auvers-sur-Oise. The details reflect both the Provencal skies, and "Wheatfield with Crows" - one of his most famous paintings. Vincent's signature is seen in blue lacquer on the barrel ring, alongside the engraved 1889 that represents the year he moved to Saint-Rémy. The colour composition on the cap of this striking fountain pen is inspired by provencial blue skies and golden wheatfields, which are reflected in the translucent blue lacquer inlays and the Au 750 solid yellow gold skeleton overlay.
