Montblanc’s latest creation for their Masters of Art collection pays homage to 19th Century painter, Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Renoir was one of the leading painters of the Impressionist group and he evolved the technique of broken brush strokes and used bold colour combinations to capture the light and movement of his landscapes.

The overall shape of this fountain pen by Montblanc celebrates the beginning of Renoir's artistic career, the shape is inspired by traditional pencils. This stunning fountain pen has been made of olive wood inspired by Renoir's love of the old olive trees in his garden in Southern Frances. It is designed with dabs of paint in various shades, to mimic looking over the artists shoulder whilst at work.

The Solid AU 750 yellow gold nib is finely decorated with a delicate fold fan with two tassels, this is paying tribute to a defining element of Renoir's portraits of women who were often painted holding them. The clip of the fountain pen is gold-coated and is designed in the form of two brushes, to mimic the style Renoir used to produce the fine details and more expansive surfaces of his pieces.

At the top of the cap sits the Montblanc emblem, this has been made from ultramarine precious resin, a shade used in many of Renoir's work. Around the cap ring sits the engraving 1874, this symbolizes the year of the first exhibition was held for the new generation of artists to mark the birth of impressionism.
