Steiff's collaboration is with one of the most iconic characters from the comic strip Peanuts, Charles Schulz’s lovable creation Snoopy, an anthropomorphic beagle. Snoopy is a loyal, imaginative, and a good-natured beagle who is prone to imagining fantasy lives. This particular alternate identity that Snoopy has adopted is the World War I Flying Ace. First seen in 1965, Snoopy as the Flying Ace was drawn pretending to fly his doghouse as a Sopwith Camel biplane, pursuing the notorious Red Baron. This alter ego was perhaps one of the most enduring, appearing dressed in his scarf and goggles in the Peanuts comic strip until 1999. Images of Snoopy's Ace would go up with astronauts on Apollo 10 in 1969, be the subject of a standing exhibit at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and become a U.S. postage stamp. Steiff's interpretation of Snoopy the First World War Flying Ace is a great way for you to collect your own piece of this part of history.
