This particular notebook has been inspired by the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. This is an American travelling circus company which was named ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’. P.T. Barnum was an American showman, businessman and politician who founded the P.T. Barnum Grand Travelling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan & Hippodrome circus in 1871 which changed names many times throughout its course. Barnum died in 1891, 20 years after joining the circus world from a stroke. In 1881 a merger was signed with James Bailey and James L. Hutchinson, P.T. Barnum's Greatest Show On Earth, And The Great London Circus was born.

In 1919, long after P.T. Barnum's death, The Ringling Bros merged with the combined circuses changing the name again to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & bailey Circus, Greatest Show on Earth. Bailey sadly passed away in 1906 before the two companies were merged, however they did run separately previous to 1919.
John Ringling North was the president and director of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. In 1956 the circus ended its season early as John announced they would no longer perform under their own portable tents and wanted to be exhibited at more permanent venues which is what happened when the circus opened back up in 1957. The circus was bought by Irvin Feld and his brother Israel along with Houston Judge Roy Hofheinz; which occurred in 1967. Under the watchful eye of Feld Entertainment; which is an international entertainment firm headed by Kenneth Feld in Ellenton, Florida until closing for good on May 21st 2017. Unfortunately due to high operating costs and weakening attendance the circus has now closed after 146 years in the making.

This notebook is A5 sized and takes inspiration from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The notebook is made from vibrant yellow leather with a beautiful and signature saffiano print. The front features the three printed red stars and circus performers overlaid in black with one of the high top tents that the circus would perform in printed in the centre which brings a festive spirit to the collection.  This collection will combine the magical atmosphere of happy holiday season with the colourful theme of Circus. Most of the Fine Stationary notebooks by Montblanc come in three styles either with un-coated blank pages, lined or squared; this particular notebook features blank pages that are matte white embracing golden edges and a red page marker to mark the page you are currently using. Like all Montblanc products the black and white enamel emblem is featured embedded into a ring of palladium-coated metal on the front; adding subtle branding. This emblem represents the peak of the Montblanc Mountain.
