Organising Your Work Space with Montblanc

We all know what it’s like when you’re sat at a desk all day, or working from home and you get that post-lunch slump. Our surroundings can highly impact our productivity and how we feel, so we’ve rounded up some of the best tips to stay engaged, motivated, and productive during the day.

Start the day in a positive way. Whether that’s planning your working day the night before so you can start ticking off a list, getting dressed up even when you are working from home, or starting the day with a hot drink of your choice.
Make sure you work when you are most productive. If you think you work much better in the mornings, then prioritise the most difficult tasks for that time. If you start your day by not being productive then you may end up feeling sluggish during the rest of the day.
Take breaks when you need to. If you’ve been staring at a screen for hours on end, you’re likely to dwindle and lose your focus. Step away from your laptop and get some fresh air to break up the day. Get your steps in during your lunch break and clear your mind so you can come back to your desk feeling energised.
Refuel with a healthy lunch, including a mix of veg and protein. This will keep your nourished and feeling good, and it could prevent that post-lunch tiredness.
Organise and refresh your workspace when you need to. It can be difficult to work with a clear mind when your surroundings are cluttered, so try and keep this to a minimum and take 5 minutes out of your day to clear up.
Practice mindfulness and meditation if you tend to easily get stressed. Remember to take deep breaths, maybe breathing in for the count of 3 and breathing out for 5.
Make sure you’re getting enough sleep. Most people need 8 hours for optimal feel-good productivity, mental health and being able to focus.
Set yourself deadlines or break up the day by hourly tasks. This may stop you from spending hours on something that might not bring the results you’re after. For example, if you have multiple tasks you need to do then you don’t want to just spend so much time focusing on one, as you’ll end up not feeling productive and worrying about the others you haven’t attempted.
Turn off notifications if you get distracted easily. This may be silencing calls during working hours, putting your phone away, turning off social media notifications, or not checking emails for a while if you know you’ll get distracted with incoming mail.
Block out any noise that may take your focus away from what you’re doing. This may be putting on headphones with white noise, relaxing music, or simply just taking your mind away from what’s going on around you.
