Established in 1992 the ''Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award'' honours the most important patrons of art and culture in the past centuries whose personal commitment and achievements deserve wider recognition.

Since 1992 Montblanc have released a Limited Edition fountain pen dedicated to arts and culture in the spring of every year. They are limited to either 4,810 pieces, the height of the Montblanc Mountain in meters, or in an even more sought after Limited Edition of only 888 pieces. The number 888 recurring is a sign of wealth or triple fortune as well as being considered particularly lucky in Asia.

Every Montblanc limited edition writing instrument comes presented in its own bespoke presentation box with certificate of authenticity. Each pen is individually numbered which then matches the number on the hand written certificate of authenticity.

Since 1992, Montblanc annually honour the world's most famous authors whose works have had a long lasting impact on generations of readers and still remain relevant today. The specific design and fine detailing in each pen has references to the life's work of the author it was created to honour. Available as a fountain pen, ballpoint pen, and rollerball.
